Peruvian R Greystoke is an example of the perfect herd sire.

Greystoke started his career winning his class at the National Conference in Denver in 1996. Carousel Alpacas first saw him in a brochure that Snowmass Alpacas highlighted him in. Julie Skinner said that Greystoke was special, both in conformation and personality. Carousel Alpacas could not have progressed and grown as we have without him. That was the one singular phone conversation that would create Carousel Alpacas.

The awesome Peruvian Drambuie is Greystoke’s sire and a silver grey female, Dusty, is his mother. Greystoke is only one of four greys that Drambuie has produced.

Once at Carousel Farm, Greystoke continued his winning ways by receiving a first at the Autumn Fibre Classic in 1997 and a second at the same show in 1998(only to be beaten by SA Imperial(Carousel) for a first in 1998)

Greystoke maintains his rose grey color. His face fiber is still dense and slightly wavy. Very few alpacas have that face fiber characteristic. Throughout the years, Greystoke has produced the full spectrum of color-white to black.

His four straight legs with great bone density enhance the picture. His head is not only wonderfully fleeced, but also large and square with a wide muzzle while still being short in profile.

Greystoke’s offspring have made giant contributions to the Carousel name:  Rita Meter Maid is my foundation grey female. She exhibits all the qualities Carousel breeds for. Rita is my perfect alpaca. Carousel Hannah is a combination of Drambuie and Legacy in a package that Carousel truly respects. Carousel CoCo Pebbles is a rare fading brown that produces excellent quality crias in shades that vary year to year. Greystoke is now semi-retired.
