Maxwell Silver is a quiet home grown grey that has a cobby silver fleeced body with great straight legs.
His dam, Skyler, was the first one born on the farm to Carousel Alpacas. Maxwell was the first offspring of SA Imperial. The body type of Maxwell comes from SA Imperial and Peruvian WhiteOut. Skyler added the silver color and strengthened the balance of leg to make quite the profile of Maxwell on the little hill in the pasture.
Maxwell has remained a light to medium grey as he matures thanks to the silver genes that are cemented on the dam’s side of the pedigree-all grey or black. Imperial’s dam is also grey.
On the sire’s side, SA Imperial and Peruvian WhiteOut’s influences makes the chance of passing on a stocky square body type excellent. Add that with the great legs on both sides of the pedigree and one has the possibility of a great offspring out of Maxwell.
Due to the extent that Maxwell’s lines already exist in the barn, his use as herdsire for Carousel Alpacas is rather limited. However, that presents a rather unique opportunity for your farm.
If one wants to try to achieve grey from a very conformationally correct and strongly entrenched grey colored male, Maxwell Silver should be considered.
